It's no use. The battle is lost. I am crying uncle.

Re: Scott Graham: Ultra con darling?
I think the point was "is it kosher for a holiness minister to preach holiness" (that stands on its own debate), but rather the context and setting of what/where he preached. Sounds like that was DA's stirring question for the day.

Bingo. That's what pastors are for ...
Although I am well aware that organizationally these have become mandated "group think" parties and camp, conference, rally speakers encouraged to do so ...
Personally, the biggest holiness camp preacher I knew growing up in Spanish ministries would machine-gun down the ladies for their slits and poofs and the guys for rolling the ends of our pants while theatrically ducking behind the pulpit for effect ..... all the while a being a sex addict engaging in wild, lewd, lascivious debauchery with holiness women to the chagrin of his wife, family and church.

He, reportedly preached holiness hard. Slamming churches with "worldly" websites and saying elders traditions should never be questioned.
What say ye? Camp the right place for this sort of stuff?

Still trying to figure out how the original post about SG and this secondary post correlate. I know you are not making the comparison...or are you just running out of targets?
Why not just post your opinion on the "What do we expect at camp meeting" thread?

Re: Scott Graham: Ultra con darling?
Poor taste in making an attempt to discuss the man rather than the actual issue it could have been avoided but you enjoy the intentional confrontation.
Its important to know that we are hearing a second hand account on what MY PASTOR actually preached and ripped on. I mean the guy could've said that women shouldn't wear mini skirts and chances are someone who has strayed so far from morals and holiness would be offended so how about before anyone goes declaring a man of God a company man you know the details. More importantly, you know the man and be willing to discuss it with him...
for instance, there is a man on this forum right now who calls a trinitarian church his home church and is excited about the numerical growth it is seeing. Where is the rant on that?????? seriously?
Have we become so clouded and defensive over lines that someone has drawn that we still support trinitarians and pat their backs????????
FTR, that company man, Pastor Graham preaches the same way at home as he does at conferences I'm glad you were able to be blessed the way I am every sunday.

Jon. Help us. Quote at least a part of the post that you are responding to. Is this in response to the opener?
I think you are quite correct about something else here too.
"...that we still support trinitarians and pat their backs????????"
Yes Jon. That was always the Apostolic manner in which we treated our Trinitarian brethren. That's one of the "old paths."

oh please the PCI roots are dead and shriveled. The only ones even remotely taking claim to it are the ones who are compromising everything else.

The opener was the puzzling one for me. I figured DA2 just thought the forum was a little slow this evening.
The second post you cite is a sad reality, as was NOW's statements about sending young people to a camp meeting just to have them bullied by a bunch of neanderthals.
So many times I've gone to a camp meeting or conference seeking some sort of real uplift only to have to sit and listen to a harangue from some "holiness" preacher who would be leaving the fellowship with his secretary at the end of the year any way.
We really do need to become more sophisticated, IMHO. The frauds and the cons that we allow to run rampant though our fellowships have cause tremendous harm.
Meanwhile, the faithful and honest men that we have wadded up and thrown out like use tissue are still scorned as "compromisers."

I am truly sorry for those "faithful and honest men that we have wadded up and thrown out" yet I must believe the "frauds and cons" are not given free rein. If such is occurring than we should/mush expose them.

Quite a few years ago I took a day of vacation and drove to our ALJC Ohio District Camp. I planned on spending the day and hearing some Bible teaching and then some preaching. I was there in plenty of time for the morning Bible Study. It was a real disappointment. The pastor who taught spent the hour pontificating and haranguing about television. Like I said in a a previous post in the Camp Meeting thread, it took about 5 minutes to cover what he had to say and the other 55 minutes was just repetition of the same stuff. I was licensed with the ALJC for several years. I had (still have) a television. My pastor had a television. Television was not an issue in many of our ALJC churches. To me it was a waste of time to sit there and listen to this guy scold the members of all these churches who were living in compliance with their pastors' teachings. In my opinion, he was out of order and out of place.
