Why is it so important to be called Dr or Professor for some? I know people that are going to real schools, year by year or even longer since they also have to work full time at real accredited schools. I don't give a hoot if an evangelist or pastor does not have a Phd.

You know, really Prax, this is the bottom line of all this, isn't it? Would LS get one single more speaking engagement if he has a phd listed, or one less if he didn't? I don't think so. Before all this hooey, I didn't know he claimed any education besides ABI. Doesn't this point to it all being about ego? Seems so to me.

I care if they are posturing as a scholar on a subject.

Not relying on other scholars, but coming up with ideas about witches and matter-of-fact interpretations of uncertain passages... yeah, I want to know your credentials.

And maybe a Ph.D. isn't essential, but I think every Pastor should be striving for higher learning.
