The issue is, why is this women dressed in this fashion when her husband is not present? The article said that James FOUND his wife, wearing a bikini with the husband of a mutual friend. That means he was SHOCKED to find her in this fashion.

I'm with Bratti - not giving her a pass no matter what the pastor did. And, yes, he should be careful how he addressed the issue. We don't know if this caused a big stink in the church and he decided to address the church body. He can do that if he wants to. My point is that she was doing something wrong in her life to end up in a bikini at a pool side with another man. To say adultery or fornication was NOT going on is also speculation.
She was NOT a member of his church.

I don't think so. Another poster said her pastor stood up for her.

So, she was attending another church? I guess I would need more details on the poolside event. And I think there's no point in discussing the issue when we don't know what she was doing.

Still think it's odd to be dressed that way and in the presence of another man - a man who you are NOT married to. I'm a conservative woman, in many ways, and that just strikes me as odd. I would fear for my life if my husband knew I had done something like that AND if he walked through the gate, I would probably start running! LOL! RUN Forest!!!!!

HAHAHAHA!!!! ME, TOO!!!!! No, I'd probably pass out from fear, and not wake up until I'd formulated my story.

When I first read the thread, I did the same thing you did--I put myself in her shoes. And with ME in her shoes, I can't imagine EVER being with another woman's husband at a pool, wearing only a bikini. Even if other people were around, that would be out of line for me. I wouldn't, couldn't do that without some serious motives in mind that would include great disregard for my husband and potentially the aim to attract the other man. Ergo, it's hard for me to identify with her having some sort of innocent motive. And I found myself immediately annoyed with her. LOL!!!

I'm assuming she was a member of the church at some point, but I don't suppose the article actually says one way or the other. She definitely wasn't a member at the time of her divorce, or later when the slanderous statement was made.

She has no excuse in my book. Sure we can be tempted, but how far you extend yourself in that temptation is another thing.

Well, I was just thinking that the pastor was addressing his church on the situation as she used to be a member. She sure took a long time to say she just heard about his remarks. I found that odd also, Bratti. First night something is said the phones are hopping. LOL!

Why do you say she took a long time? She went through several channels before she ever went to court. Sent a few letters to the pastor himself, asking him to retract his statement, talked to the presbyters..... she tried other channels before going to court with it, which took a while.
