Nothing slippery about it.
I reject his teaching because they are wrong not because he has a degree.
He defends positions he took prior to his education, which tells me he didn't learn to much. Contrast that with Segraves and you will see a ton of changes in the way he handles Scripture.

Well how much "education" does it take to comprehend "not with gold, pearls, or costly array."???????
No wonder Jesus by-passed Beth-Hillel & Beth-Shammai to get His disciples. They were probably ruined by the Baron's/Jeffrey's of the day...who only explain away...making the Word of God of no affect.

You really do come across as rather thick...this verse isn't about wearing clothes or braiding the hair or putting on Jewelry. You can't seem to get it...seems plain to me...oh and every scholar out there that doesn't have an agenda.

Good grief, does it get any worse than this? "Not with BRAIDED HAIR, GOLD, OR COSTLY ARRAY." But, Baron apparently knows better than the apostle Paul, since he tells us that it's "not about" the very thibgs that Paul wasted his time mentioning?!?!?! And I'M the "thick" one???? Unreal!

Yes, very "plain" indeed! And I agree the scholars don't have an agenda...including Bernard, French, Treece, etc. Besides, your "agenda" is to make the Word of God of no affect thru your traditions...such as ornamentation.
Hmmm, try putting an ornament on the Governor's house & see what you get! REVELATION: NT believer's are God's temple/house! Sheesh...you guys are the one's that "don't get it!"

What an old and tired argument:

Silly rabbit, Baron is talking about Paul's own words.
Yes, you come off as quite "thick."

If I'm "thick" for believing what the 2 foremost apostles instructed the church to "not do," but "do this,"....then I'm "thick!" I guess it's better than being "thin"!
Try again boys...it's still there!

As a matter of fact a close reading of Bernard on this passage doesn't uphold your view either.
He quotes 2 sources The Tyndale new Testament Commentaries and the Wycliffe Bible Commentary...neither of which hold your view. Practical Holiness a Second Look pgs 156-157.
In Search of Holiness cites no scholars on this passage.

I don't know about the others your quoting but I would be willing to bet that Segraves is not on board with the way you misuse this Scripture.
