I think Joel has gotten WAY too bad of a rap for this. You know, all of us are gonna blow it if we say enough. He was in a tough spot, didn't do his best, and I think we oughta move on.
Really though, I agree with what he said....it IS God's call. All of it. Larry King was trying to trap him, and Joel didn't go for it. I don't blame him. The best answer I've ever heard when a preacher was blind-sided by this question, was given by Erwin McManus. When asked the same question, he said, "I believe everyone needs Jesus, even Christians."
