Sound, excuse me. And it's "Harold", not "Herold."
I'm sure many pastors DO feel this pressure, but it's no different than it's been for eons of time. It's even addressed in the bible. But there is a pressure to please people in home-groups, too. There's a pressure to please the next-door neighbor concerning the tree that's overhanging your fence. It's not a "Church thing", it's a "Life thing."
The "Seeker" church is often judged as trying to please people when in reality, they're trying (for the most part) to create an environment in which they can be as effective as possible. The misconceptions about "Seeker" churches are the worst I've seen in religious history.
