The Bishop didn't say he was completely innocent at all. He said that he was not the man that they're saying he is. He did not categorically deny that any of this happened. Smith is unwilling and unable to accurately quote some one. That would mean cut and paste.

It's the only group he mentioned. That seems fairly limited. He didn't say it was a problem in many religious groups, he said it was a problem with black preachers. He even said, later, that this is a problem that people in Long's church knew about....not specifically Long's alleged actions, but the fact that it's a problem in black churches.
