As long as the lyrics aren't objectionable.... where do you find a particular style of music condemned in the Bible? Or a particular style that is designated as okay, while others aren't?

I don't like rap *at all*, but if someone does, it's none of my business as long as the words aren't disgusting. Most people aren't going to play it in church, though, because the portion of the audience who would like it is usually going to be extremely small.

Head-banging, though - love that.

It's right next to the scripture about smoking dope.

We have a whole genre of Christian worship rap music.

It is called Christian Rap

or just

........ for short.

Just Kidding.

I think any kind of music, even rap or even classical, can be used for communicating the Gospel.

Re: Singing in Babylon

For those of you who didn't have the time to listen t the message, Dan talks about when his family moved to South America as missionaries, and they tried to teach the natives American style songs like, "I'll Fly Away" in Spanish. They didn't seem to go over well, as the natives preferred songs in their native song style.

It wasn't long before they got wise and started singing mostly the native songs because the people could relate more. Eventually, Dan and his family came to love the native style of music.

Our American culture is changing rapidly, and will never go back to the way it was no matter how much we miss it. We have a choice. We can either adapt or die away. The gospel message will find a way to reach each culture and generation.
