Why is it a slap in God's face? And how could it be considered selfish and disrespectful if that is what the departed has requested be done with their body after death? If you are not following their wishes, then I think
that would be disrespectful.

So hanging around for years and years in an air tight casket is a good thing?? Why? Your soul is gone, so that body is basically useless anyway.
Besides, the Bible talks about how from dust we are created and to dust we will return. Being sealed in an air tight casket so that nature cannot take it's course doesn't seem quite right to me somehow.
I don't think cremation is right for everybody. But I think for those who prefer it, there is nothing wrong with it. Just like I think that if you want to spend your hard earned money on a vault that will keep your body in-tact until the Rapture happens, that is also your choice. But I truly do not believe that God gives a rotten banana which way you choose.
