Only one time is it recorded in the New Testament Scriptures that someone asked an Apostle how to be saved.
This happened in the Roman colony of Philippi probably in the summer of AD 50. The person asking the question was a jailer. He asked the question of the Apostle Paul. It is recorded in
Acts 16:30 that he asked, "what must I do to be saved?" The Apostolic answer is found in verse 31 where Paul said, "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved." It is recorded in subsequent verses that Paul spoke the Word to him and all his house and they all believed. It is also recorded that the jailer washed the wounds of Paul and Silas, that the jailer and his family were all baptized in water (no mention of Spirit baptism) and that they all ate together late at night. Baptism/mikveh was a custom of Judaism and carried over into the early church and we still practice it today after someone gets saved. We also have continued the custom of late night eating together.
