Odd...in all my years of preaching...listening to preaching, and running in mainly conservative UPC and Independent circles....i have NEVER heard that preached...

I have heard it preached that you must put God before everything else....I preach that...but nothing like what you say here.

Oh, I've heard it as well.

And concerning the second sentence, the way it is usually preached, you do put God first and since church attendance, submitting to authority (or in the case of a woman, subbbbb-MITTTing <spit>), tithe paying, and nearly everything else preached was pleasing to God than it ALL came before family.
