I know some would say bible generally speaks of women being adorned. Even in Ezek it's refering to him finding Isreal adorning her and such. Many of the stuff listed in ez is feminine stuff.

It appears adornment in the bible was generally a women thing. Maybe that's why even in NT it only speaks to women about it???

For about the 10th time now, I'll point out that you folks can certainly come off as abrasive [i.e., MissBrattified's "Let's get this straight"!], but when I return the favor, I'm the bad guy??

See thyself.................

I already told him it was a WOMAN thing, and he will not deal with that, though.

We're talking to the wall, bro.

Blessings!

So I'm a "wall" for simply believing "not with gold jewelry, pearls, or costly apparel"?

Silly & "hardheaded" me, what was I thinking believing the Bible ??

I think in order for their interpretation to be accurate, it would probably need to be interpreted as rather than with gold, pearls, or costly array.

If I'm seeing right, they are saying Paul is emphasizing a witness and Peter within the bounds of marriage and that the overall emphasis should not be on jewelry versus a total ban of it.

Is that what you gather?

This version is good in my opinion

1 Timothy 2:8-10 (New International Reader's Version)

8 I want men everywhere to pray. I want them to lift up holy hands. I don't want them to be angry when they pray. I don't want them to argue.

9 I also want women to dress simply. They should wear clothes that are right and proper. They shouldn't braid their hair. They shouldn't wear gold or pearls. They shouldn't spend too much on clothes. 10 Instead, they should put on good works as if they were their clothes. That is proper for women who claim to worship God.

and this one

1 Timothy 2:8-10 (Worldwide English (New Testament))

8So I want men in every place to talk to God. They must have clean lives when they lift up their hands to talk to God. They must not be angry. They must have faith in God.

9I also want women to wear the right kind of clothes. They should not make a show of themselves, but use good sense. They should not fix up their hair in a fancy way, or wear gold and fine stones, or clothes that cost much money.

10But women should busy themselves with good works. This is the right thing for women who say they worship God.

or this one

1 Timothy 2:8-10 (Contemporary English Version)
8I want everyone everywhere to lift innocent hands toward heaven and pray, without being angry or arguing with each other.

9I would like for women to wear modest and sensible clothes. They should not have fancy hairdos, or wear expensive clothes, or put on jewelry made of gold or pearls. 10Women who claim to love God should do helpful things for others,

How typical of the Mike dug-out! I've already told you that your assertion about Ezek. 16 exclusively referring to a woman is absurd. It was a metaphorical reference to Israel as God's Bride, but Israel did not exist exclusively as a woman! Or, are you suggesting that Israel didn't have any men in it ??

I also pointed out to you that "there is neither male nor female" in Christ in salvifical matters. YOU are the one who totally ignored my rebuttals...then, as usual, scream "He didn't answer me!"

Tooooo funny................!
