NoooOOOOooooo! I'm saying there's no evidence that it has been or is going to be effective. I would like to see whatever research or data led the TSA to find this needful from the get-go. Has some other country utilized these extreme procedures to success, or are we the trendsetters?
I'm saying that there needs to be some sort of supporting evidence before American's rights are so easily violated, and even then we should be proceeding with caution because personal liberties are important.

Since the 2001 terrorist attacks, over seven billion passengers have gone through US airport security and not a single terrorist has been caught!
|
So that is twisted to mean the clamp down and groping has protected us.

Airport "Security"? - Thomas Sowell
Quote:
If anything good comes out of the airport "security" outrages, it may be in opening the eyes of more people to the utter contempt that this administration has for the American people.
Those who made excuses for all of candidate Barack Obama's long years of alliances with people who expressed their contempt for this country, and when as president he appointed people with a record of antipathy to American interests and values, may finally get it when they feel some stranger's hand in their crotch.

Wouldn't it be cheaper and less invasive to just have trained dogs sniffing people for explosive materials?

Doesn't profiling fly in the face of the concept of innocence until proven guilt?

Yes
.......the standard required for a search to be lawful is lowered from "probable cause" to "reasonable grounds" ...
They have reasonable grounds to believe non Muslims will start carrying weapons aboard.

Profiling or a pat-down seem equally intrusive, so, IMO, it's not much of an arguable difference.
Israel's security methods are not based solely on ethnic or religious profiling. They also include behavioral patterns, previous intelligence and travel information. The moment someone purchases a ticket, a background check is done.
Israeli security procedures:
- Entering the terminal, the vehicle is stopped by security to ask a couple of basic questions - "Where are you coming from and what is the purpose of your visit?" If someone acts nervous, they are pulled aside.
- Inside the terminal - passengers pass by another set of security agents who are checking for suspicious behavior.
- Proceeding to the check-out counter - questions are asked while the travel documents are checked - "How long will you be in Israel?, Did you pack your own bags? Why are your visiting?". They are looking, again, for suspicious behavior.
- The passenger then goes through a metal detector and their luggage goes through X-ray.
I was reading that a woman from Australia felt profiled, but when they searched her luggage, she had a keffiyeh tucked away. They asked her if she knew what it was and she simply said, "Yes, they sell these all over Jerusalem." She then was offended when they said, "Yes, but do you realize what this represents? This is a symbol calling for the end of Israel."
The arguments, in the US, are that the Israeli procedures are time consuming and costly, because we have more airports, and that there would be negative implications for Americans involving diplomatic and economic relations in other countries.

They tell us to submit, it's for our own protection, if not you're getting fined to the tune of 11,000 dollars...but...but....what will really make us safe would have negative implications towards foreign relations...says the PC maniacs.
The death of common sense has brought us thus far......
