In John 10:22-23 it says, And it was in Jerusalem the feast of the dedication, and it was winter. And Jesus walked in the temple in Solomon's porch."

Some believe this meant that Jesus was there celebrating Hanukkah. Others believe that the since it said He was in Solomon's porch, He was distancing Himself from the feast.

Just heard a lesson last night at midweek service about Jesus and the Jewish culture. The person teaching is known as "the Cowboy Preacher" because during part of the year he does the rodeo circuit preaching and ministering. He has been teaching on Jesus' culture and the Jewish calendar. Last night he talked about how Zacharias the priest was of the course of Abia ministering when the angel appeared to him in the Temple and told him that his barren wife Elizabeth was going to have a child. After his time of ministering he returned home and his wife conceived. Then the angel appeared to Mary and told her she would give birth to the Son of God and informed her that Elizabeth was 6 months pregnant. From the Jewish calendar we can figure when Zacharias was ministering and can compute the time of Elizabeth's conception and the time of Mary's conception. Following that we may assume that Jesus (the light of the world) was conceived during Hanukkah (the feast of lights) and was born (tabernacled among us) at the feast of Tabernacles.
