This is all silly to me.... everything that I have belongs to HIM.... the wife and I are in the process of making a decision to sell our home to free up money to use to build a new building and purchase the land needed to build it on here......no problem... He gave it to me, it is His........do I want to have to make this change - no - but if it takes it to make the Kingdom Move Forward.....I dont even have to really think about it twice.....EVERYTHING I have belongs to Him anyway......what is the deal??????????

Not really sure what that's about.

I think it's a good and valid question!

I'm not so sure a person needs to give tithes on capital gains from the sale of a home unless they do not plan to reinvest the whole amount into another home. It's not as if you are getting a check for this money...

That is how I was taught. And IAM is right... it DOES all belong to God... and I will give freely and with a good spirit if He ask of me.

This will be our 4th home to sell. Just wanna be doing what's right.

I feel the same way! We've never witheld what is God's. I've never heard any teaching/preaching on this either.

I think this is a good question too! JMO - I don't personally think it is necessary if you are rolling the money into another mortgage. I also don't think that having a capital gain necessarily means you had an "increase" for the purpose of tithing.

Example - You bought a house for 100,000 and paid mortgage payments of 1,000 per month and then sold it after 5 years for 150,000.

Technically, you could say you had a capital gain of $50,000. However, you put $60,000 into the house in mortgage payments over the five years, so did you really have an increase for the purpose of tithing? I personally don't think so. However, I also think that conviction is important and listening to the voice of God in one's own personal situation is the most vital thing.

i have NEVER heard Bro Barnes say to pay thithes on capital gains of your home.

i need to ask my husband what we did when we sold our house. i cant remember. i know we used the money as a down payment to another home.
