I don't mind that he is Anglican. I cannot see how that would effect his research in the least. Do Anglicans have a better or worse track record than Old Time Pentecostals in producing scholarly works?

Digressing? Noone said anything about Fudge's spiritual condition. I simply would ask, Does current membership in any particular denomination discredit a scholarly work?

To be Pro Fudge is to be Pro Anglican/Catholic.
I can now see what some folks meant when he wrote with a purposeful bias against Pentecost- to degrade it

Better be careful, to be pro-hymnals you might be considered trinny.

This is simply not true. Most theologians our young people study and school and seminary are something other than Oneness Pentecostal.

ah... Thad? Have you read his book? He was highly complimentary of the Pentecostal movement in general and of Oneness Pentecostals in particular. Even the "bad guy" of the book, L.E. Westberg gets high praise as a man who follows his convictions.
Nothing about Pentecost was "degraded." The "bias" was really rather soft- and it was from a Pentecostal perspective as well. It was basically written from C.H. Yadon's perspective. Do you think C.H. Yadon would have a "Pro Anglican/Catholic" bias and do you think he would seek to "degrade" Pentecost?

Nothing in Fudge's book could be taken as being against the Pentecostal experience.

It doesn't help the guy when his research shows a not so positive light on the more conservative element and refutes their claims...
It's the whole "It ain't smoke unless it's from our chimney" syndrome (pun intended just for you, bro!).

The book does show the authors personal opinion a bit - but I expect no less. The point concerning the bulk of the books info remains though. It is a valueable asset to any Pentecostal library.
Old Chimney Sweeps never die... they just "go up in smoke".
