Edifying one another

We know that we are encouraged to edify one another. It is sometimes a rare thing, on a forum such as this, to see it happen. Frequently, such forums revolve around debates and disagreements.

I offer a counter-balance.

What I am seeking is the following:

If interested, please share something that the Holy Spirit brings to your attention on a regular basis, that, in prayer, causes your inner man and spirit to be edified. It may be a verse of Scripture, a doctrinal truth, something more personal regarding your relationship with God, etc.

I should like to read how God communicates His grace and love to you. Perhaps you would like to read the same from me?

So, with that in mind, I will go first.

Two things always come to mind almost every time I pray. The first is the following:

"The Lord is good and His mercy endures forever."

It seems to be a constant reminder for me to never forget, no matter what else is happening, or how I might otherwise complain or get a bad attitude about life, to stop before such negativity overflows and ruins the joy God wants me as His child, to have. It helps me remember that though I have not seen, yet I am blessed because I believe.

The second is not a verse per se, but rather, just to be grateful and to express that gratitude in prayer through thanksgiving for not only what the Lord has done, but also Who He is. I know I'm not the only low-born hopeless loser God ever saved, but by giving Him verbals thanks, it's my way, I suppose, of never forgetting the moment God rescued me.

Ok. Now it's your turn...

Re: Edifying one another

Good idea. Votive

Once when I was praying, that still small voice said to me,

Quote:
“The path of faith doesn't lead where others have walked, but makes the way with love.”
Another time, probably 60 years ago, in a dream a man hands me a card, thinking it is a business card, I start to read it, it said,

Quote:
“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not to your own understanding.”

I don't remember a time in prayer that God hasn't said that He loved me.

I don't remember a time in prayer that God didn't say He was enjoying our relationship.

Re: Edifying one another

Thanks for sharing.

The following has only happened once, but it is worth sharing:

When I was in college at a state university, I was leading a campus ministry. We were unashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, but in a place where such things are severely censored and looked-down at.

I lived on campus. The whole city was spiritually oppressed, like the weight of a dead body.

The particular time of this story was especially difficult for me. Persecution was on the rise, demonic attack seemed daily and constant, not to mention the stress and rigors of a college level education.

One night in the University Center in one of the side rooms where we held Bible study, as I prayed before, I was overcome by the burden of it all. It weighed me down to the ground. I could barely pray. I could barely stand.

I turned my face to the wall, crying, interceding, begging God for help and revival.

I was discomfited. I got up. No place of rest could be found. As I turned, from behind, a hand came to rest upon my shoulder. A silent, holy presence surrounded me. I realized an angel of the Lord had touched me. I was immediately strengthened and joy flooded my soul.

Similar to Daniel, upon that touch, everything changed. It was a seminal moment in my life and walk with Christ.

Re: Edifying one another

I love it when I pray and I begin to repent before the Lord for MYSELF and I feel His presence and know that he is washing me all over again.

"Now you are clean through the word I have spoken to you."

I know the feeling, Abiding Now.
