Re: Baron & Griffin: HELP! (Or anyone else....)
In my state, it is almost impossible to get out of jury duty. I was called once but not chosen for the trial.
I have no problem with it, unless I were to have a nursing baby, which does not get you an exemption. I would most certainly bring hypothetical child and nurse when needed and I'm pretty sure the judge would excuse me.

Funny MissBrat because I'm involved in a suit that is going to trial and the jury call is Feb. 4.....wish you could be on that jury for me!

Many cases have no business in court, of those that do our jury system is foundational to our justice system. Dodging jury duty is akin to taking for granted your right and privilege to vote for your leaders and laws.
Hope you have a positive experience Abi, but regardless feel good about doing the right thing.

You (and everyone else) are absolutely right. I've calmed down now and I'm having more rational thoughts. Apparently it isn't the end of the world if Hannah gets the day off to muck about with the local horses and cows, Sarah gets to curl up with all the books that aren't on my required reading list and Jeffrey spends the day watching multiple seasons of Mythbusters.
Who knows. I might even like jury duty.

My wife, Karen, was just seated on a Federal Grand Jury that will convene for one whole year.

The quickest way to out of Jury Duty is to tell the exact truth. No matter what the first question is simply state the following: "Well, I feel that everyone would just repent, be Baptized In Jesus' Name, and receive the infilling of the Holy Ghost evidenced by speaking in a heavenly language, God will forgive their sins and make then ready for heaven". You will have witnessed and they will let you go at once. Been there, done that, it works.

My wife was called to be on a jury in state court to try a man for murder. They asked her if she knew anything about the case and she replied that she knew that the defendant murdered his girlfriend. She was dismissed.

With only minor changes, yep. I figured that if any group of people needed to hear the gospel, it was lawyers. I was asked to answer the orignal question, which I did, (do you live in _________ county?) Which I did. But they didn't ask any follow up, just told me thank you and dismissed me.

And I am assuming you could tailor the response to whatever way you are comfortable relating the plan of salvation.

You probably would have been better off doing your civic duty first, then launching into whatever you had to say.
