No one said Alicia was "the best" singer on his team.

relevant church isn't upc. do baptist folks and aog folks also make any singer remotely connected to a national recording artist their claim to fame too? :hehehe
I think the idea is that Vonnie Lopez and Alicia Hudson are great singers, and they sing with national recording artists because they are actually really great vocalists with real talent. It's not a "claim to fame"; it's a statement of fact. I would be pretty proud of my girls if they were singing with Kurt Carr or Eddie James--or Vonnie Lopez, or Nancy Grandquist, for that matter. Quite an honor, from a musician's or singer's perspective.

I thought Vonnie was Apostolic Assemblies of the Lord Jesus Christ ????? I've seen her on more than one occasion at different churches she has had a chapel veil on her head. I just assumed she was Apostolic Assemblies but correct me if I'm wrong.

she took over her daddy's church in LA. it's a UPC church.

The poster used these two as examples for UPC having some of the best singers. Theres no doubt talent but being a backup singer for a recording artist doesn't put you in the "best" category

and Alicia isnt UPC if you include her include kings of leon

"She took over?" LOL!!!! Her husband is now the pastor. I don't think that means that Vonnie L. "took over her daddy's church."

She may no longer be UPC (I don't really know one way or the other), but she did attend IBC. I don't suppose anyone really cares, but she does have a UPC background. Whether she sticks with that or not is no one's business really, but it's still part of her roots. It'll be part of my heritage forever, no matter where God takes me. Why the push to assert that it doesn't mean anything?

UP1 said that he thought it was cool that the UPCI was represented in ej ministries...and that VL does the same with Kurt Carr. I'm not sure I get why that's rubbing you the wrong way. I think it's cool, too. EJ and KC are both very talented (and cool), and the people that sing with them are also very talented. What's so bad about that?

I could cover a wall with the top notch recording artists represented by cogic, baptist, coc, methodist, non-denom etc UPC has good music and talent but the words "some of the best" should be reserved if all were offering are choir members and backup vocalists. at least vl is a soloist on the album too.

im independent and have no ill toward the UPCI but have heard that naive boasting forever

No...I assume if she had on a chapel veil, it was out of respect for the assembly they were visiting.

Re: Eddie James Ministries & Kurt Carr Singers

Saw Eddie James live a few weeks ago. His singers and dancers were some of the nicest, most humble kids I've ever met..awesome for her. He's an great guy who loves Jesus.

No, I was wrong, apparently. I know that Eastwood is UPCI--not AA. So whether she was AA (or her husband may still be???), the Lake Charles church is not.
