Is Israel a people, a nation, or both to God?

Israel is originally a spiritual term that many believers have lost track of. Jacob became Israel when he had a supernatural encounter with God and was overcomer by faith.

To God... everyone in Christ is ISRAEL, and unbelieving and natural Israel is Ishmael in His eyes. See latter half of Gal 4. Israel is the CHILDREN OF PROMISE AND FAITH and not those physiologically born from a certain fleshline since Abraham.

Romans 9:6-9 KJV Not as though the word of God hath taken none effect. For they are not all Israel, which are of Israel: (7) Neither, because they are the seed of Abraham, are they all children: but, In Isaac shall thy seed be called. (8) That is, They which are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God: but the children of the promise are counted for the seed. (9) For this is the word of promise, At this time will I come, and Sara shall have a son.

That's why Peter (1 Peter 2:9) said the same thing is true of us as believers in being a royal priesthood and holy nation, which was first spoken to Israel in Exodus 19:6.

Are Christians to support the nation of Israel?

You mean the NATURAL nation of Israel. Yes, I think so. But not in the hopes of being blessed by God. I think we become far too politically minded over it and forget how GOD sees Israel.

That's what I mean. They (the people) denied Jesus Christ was the Son of God, or the promised Messiah. Can we support the nation without supporting their theology? Do you know how many political party's the have?
