I went to the conference in St. Louis when Bro. Haney preached and they charged admission. I am no longer UPC and I had my son with me and I couldn't resist. I said, "My son needs the Holy Ghost and you are telling me you are going to charge me to get in?" I immediately told her I was pulling her leg and paid the price of admission.
My feelings as an outsider is that it is no big deal. Every meeting I attend has a fee for admission. The convention center is not cheap to rent and these are economincally difficult times for the UPC as well as almost every other group. The admission is relatively inexpensive so my advice is to suck it up and show up if you believe in your cause. I won't be there, but I hope it is a great event for all who attend. God bless.

I understand the expense end of it. But I wonder if many of the expenses are necessary.

If they were to charge a small fee like $25 as a blanket fee that would be fine, but to charge over $100 just to watch over the net...that's not worth it...IMO

And most of you have no clue how much real internet bandwidth actually costs. And to have that much available for only a weeks time.
This is not your average Comcast/Time Warner/Cox cable connection you know.
If you had 10k people streaming at 100 kbps, that is
10,000 * 100,000 = 1,000,000,000 minimum throughput. Or rather in readable terms 1Gbps. So they have to pull a fiber connection somewhere. Either at the UPCI headquarters, or hosted by a company to provide that bandwidth. Not cheap at all.
I can see why the cost needed to be offset by pre-registration and a slight fee.

I am actually aware of what it takes, but my point is that it would be nice for the price to have been more affordable so people can view it if they want. I think the prices were made based on the idea that churches might be willing to pay that for the whole church to watch. Those prices are not justifiable for individuals.

That I do agree on. But I think something more then 1mbps would be offered to a Church, as 1mbps can still be fairly choppy and pixel-ish.

Right. But when hasn't the church offered less than what it asks for? Oops...

Re: General Conference 2011 Kentucky
Conference expenses have gone up radically the last decade or so. It costs a lot of money to put on a big conference of any type. This is at the same time the UPCI has had money problems resulting in various departments being eliminated or cut back.
I noticed on the UPCI website that for sessions that had notes you had to print them from the online site as it stated none would be handed out at the sessions. Another cost cutting measure I am sure along with starting next year hosting the conference every year in St. Louis so the HQ staff does not add to the financial burden with the expense of out of state travel, hotel rooms ,etc during the planning and execution of each GC.
I understand the financial reality of putting on GC I just think in the case of actual attendance they need to either have an admission fee or an offering but not both and in the case of online streaming at least offer an audio stream of the night services free then charge for video streams but not the outrageous $75 & $150 bucks. I could see $5 per night at most. Some wealthy UPCer ought to just pony up fifty or one hundred grand and sponser free high quality streaming.

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.
"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.
"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."
