Politics is "Of the World?"

I'd be interested in anyone's defense of politics as a Christian. From the national, all the way down to the personal level, I am finding none. Including in your church.

My position is that we seek a human leader in defiance of God, and every other decision proceeding from this faulty premise is of the world. You won't find it (or discussions about dress code) in a Mennonite Church, for instance?

I attend a church where the decision was made to keep politics out of the church.
I think that's the wrong direction to go.

It's my believe that the pastor should tell the people which political parties support abortions, same sex marriages, etc.

A lot of people have no idea what their candidates believe and stand for.
A born again believer has no business voting for a politician who supports abortion. I don't care how good his "economic policies" sound like.

God will pull His blessings away from countries that support killing babies, same sex marriages, etc. We see it already happening right before our eyes.

We need politics IN the church and church leadership should take proper care of the sheep by doing so.

If your church is a tax-exempt 501 (c) 3 organization, they are prohibited from discussing any of the above by the IRS.

I'm unclear why the second should follow from the first, here? And national politics, at least, seems to be arguing in my favor, as to your points. I suggest any church politics just end up doing the same. Ty

I agree.

Ultimately, it is the church leadership who decides if they want to participate in the tax-exempt status. There is no requirement for a church to be a 501 (C) 3 organization.

The church will just have to cough up taxes and not be recognized as a church in the eyes of the government.

Ok, well, since my post isn't being addressed, I'll suggest that when your relationship to the true Church is correct, you are exempt from a lot more than just taxes. You guys seem determined to reduce this to the tax treatment of your earthly enterprises, IMO, which to me has no bearing on the subject at hand.

When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn. (KJV)

If Christians are not willing to be involved in politics, who will be the righteous that rule? Who will be the people that elect them?

I've met some peopel that said they'd never vote because they feel as though politics is corrupt and of the world.

Most politicians are.

I always vote when able though, only because people fought, bled, and died for that right and privilege and I don't take it for granted.
