And how do you determine if a 'Chirstian Artist' is truly worthy of singing sacred music?

So how about all those wonderful hymns that were written by alcoholics.... One comes to mind, I Saw the Light by Hank Williams (who died drunk in the back seat of a car). So have you NEVER sang that song?
Do you never sing songs written by the Gaithers, or Dotty Rambo (just some examples off the top)... or any of the other country/western/gospel music singers?
Just wondering where your thought process is leading here.... sounding pretty "self righteous" to me.
And, if the Lord has convicted you about this, that is all well and good, but why must you cast your convictions on everyone else.... ????
It seemeth to me that you can become too "heavenly minded" to be any earthly good..... and T2W's admonition might be hiting the nail on the head.
It's okay, great, and wonderful if you have all those personal convictions. You need to keep them as unto the Lord...
But when you try enforcing them on everyone else, that's when there is a problem....

And I tried to ENFORCE them on whom? ENFORCE means... that I have the ability to place ramifications on folks if not abided by... and I don't. I merely came and voiced my opinion.. and as asked follow up questions, provided them....
So let's get this right... the folks that want to come on here and bash Lifestyle Holiness, bash institutionalized church, bash UPC (which I'm not even a member of), talk about how they've seen the light regarding hair length, how they are at liberty to drink alcohol... and so much more... they aren't forcing their beliefs on anyone... they are just speaking their opinions.
But because mine is one that you find obtrusive, harsh, and disdainful... I'm somehow pushing my convictions on others....
Thanks... needed a good example of Double Standard.... appreciate you providing the updated example of one.

Bro. Robbins,
Always be true to yourself, to your God, and to your convictions.
You don't think "secular/sacred music" falls into the Romans 14 category but it seems that most of us here do. About all we can do now is to agree to disagree without being disagreeable.
Printed words in a forum like this can result in coming across the wrong way because there is no body language or facial expressions or voice tones or inflections or emotions which are an important part of communication. We can be perceived as being judgmental, condemnatory, or self-righteous when we do not mean things that way. I have been "called" on some of the things that I have posted and after I re-read them, I could see why they were taken that way. Some of the things were perceived as self righteous, some as patronizing, and some as using too broad a brush and I have apologized for them.
We're all human here and therefore are still this side of perfection. We're all a little different than each other. God makes individuals. Someone said that if two people are exactly alike, one of them is unnecessary. I do not want to offend a brother or sister and I do not want to be offensive. In the years that I have been on here I have received three infractions. If the administrators or any member here think I have crossed the line or offended, then I am open to hearing from you and I will see what I can do to resolve it.

The second character was my favorite when this show was playing. He never failed to crack me up.

I asked you a question, which you ignored... have you ever sang a song written by someone obviously living in sin, i.e. Hank Williams as in I Saw the Light?
We can realize that the spirit of God can move in someone's life who may not be completely surrendered to God in their lifestyle. But who am I to judge the condition of people's heart? Who are YOU to judge Scotty's heart? Who am I to judge you?
And I don't mean to come across as judgmental in any way. That was not my intent. My intent was just to have you think a little bit about all the music, and hymns that we sing in our congregations... do you know the heart of each and every songwriter who wrote them? Do you know the heart of each and every one that sings a song?
Just sayin.... that this mentality will take you down a road where you might only have listen to your own singing.... I dunno.....
And PEACE Bro. I appreciate your heart for God, and your love for the truth. I really do. Just thought I would open this mindset up a little bit for you....

Re: That Old King James
Well, lots of us love the songs sung on the Gaither videos and songs written by Bill and Gloria Gaither, yet some among us do not even consider Bill and Gloria to be saved or children of God.
