What is up with the different spellings of Jesus?

More and more I'm seeing people abandon use of Jesus in favor if Yeshua, and several other alternative spellings.

What is that all about? Do people think its more accurate? Is it just a fad?

Re: What is up with the different spellings of Jes

Im not aware of anyone here who has abandoned the name of Jesus. Yeshua is more accurate because it is the Hebrew name he was born with given through the angel Gabriel. Jesus is the English version of the name.

I"m English. I speak English. Therefore, actually, for someone who speaks English Jesus is the more accurate name. If my native language were Hebrew then Yeshua would be more accruate for me.

He know His name, in any language.

Those aren't alternative spellings. They are His name in the original Aramaic He was named in

So why the Aramaic over the Jesus that we use in English? Just personal preference?

Also, names don't translate, so it has to be pronounced the same.

Where does the idea they have to be pronounced the same come from? The concept is called "transliteration". The reason its not perfect is different languages many times dont contain the same sounds. So the intention is perfectly logical and innocent. Its just it cannot happen.

So does this mean its wrong to call the Lord by any language except the one you speak? I like to call him Yesu also. Many languages use that.
