Then are we to assume their was only one pastor in Laodicea, Ephesus, Phildelphia etc??? ... I have to believe their were multiple congregations in these large cities ...

The bible speaks of only one church in each city. I also believe they were run by multple elders with various ministerial gifts. for example the
Acts 13:1
13:1 Now there were in the church that was at Antioch certain prophets and teachers; as Barnabas, and Simeon that was called Niger, and Lucius of Cyrene, and Manaen, which had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.
KJV
The Church at antioch had prophetS and teacherS. Not the prophet or the teacher.
It's clear they had a different structure and what took place in services.

I tend to agree ... this business of the pastor being the be all, end all ... is non-apostolic ..... these elders were probably the equivalent of what our movement sees as a pastor today ....

The idea of a synagogue would have to be researched. The Early Church stated in the synagogues. Sometimes Paul had the most trouble there also.
I don't know of more than one church per town in any locality not only Revelation. Tradition tells us that the church at Jerusalem had 12000 members with James as Pastor.

Our English word "angel" comes from the Greek word aggelos (Strong's word no. 32 pronounced ang-e-los) from a meaning of "to bring tidings" and it means "messenger." This could be a spirit being or a human being. God could use either a human or spirit to relay a message. In that way a pastor/shepherd/elder/bishop could be God's messenger to a local assembly or to an individual.

I think that you are both right. There were likely many smaller groups that came together corporately per their city.
You can read in the Epistles wherein many various groups and peoples were mentioned in one epistle addressed to one area or church.
