Seriously. All sinners love self more than they love Christ. It requires a revelation of God's love to get a person to love God more than self.

If the person is not a Christian then they need to see themselves in the light of God's standard of righteousness. .. and only then will they understand God's grace. .. and love him in return.

Re: Homosexuality question

Homosexuality is sin.

It is against the Bible and it is against nature.

I could quote a lot of scriptures that clearly state that homosexuality is a sin, but I am sure that most of those scriptures are already well known.
The only reason I am posting here is so that it be understood that I stand clearly opposed to homosexuality.

A person who is a homosexual needs to be born again and any person who claims to be a Christian who practices homosexuality is in self-deception.

I have been talking to a kid for a few days. He is gay and has been looking for a church. Today he asked why it's wrong for him to be gay. Why is it wrong for him to love a man.

Other than "the bible says so" I didn't have an answer, so I haven't replied.
Houston,

Dr. Michael Brown is a Jewish Christian who has written several books on the subject. I would recommend checking out this link, and reading one of his books, or reading some of his articles on the subject.

http://askdrbrown.myshopify.com/coll...ned-to-america

Here is a short bio about the book:
A Queer Thing Happened to America chronicles the amazing transformation of America over the last forty years, literally, from Stonewall Inn to the White House, and addresses the question head-on: Is there really a gay agenda, or is it a fiction of the religious right? Written in a lively and compelling style, but backed with massive research and extensive interaction with the GLBT community, this forthright and yet compassionate book looks at the extraordinary impact gay activism has had on American society - from nursery school to college, from the pulpit to Hollywood, and from science to semantics - also analyzing the foundational arguments of the gay civil rights movement and exposing the extreme intolerance of those calling for tolerance. This could easily be the most controversial book of the decade. Read it and find out why the publishing world was afraid to touch it.

Re: Homosexuality question

Another book written on the subject:
http://askdrbrown.myshopify.com/coll...-homosexuality

The question of how the church deals with homosexuality has become the great moral and spiritual issue of this generation.

How do we respond to gay people who tell us how much they love the Lord and experience God’s power? How do we answer them when they say that the greatest law is the law of love, and that love requires us to embrace them as they are? What do we do with the argument that the Old Testament laws (such as the prohibition against homosexuality and the dietary laws) no longer apply?

Gay and Christian? will provide solid biblical answers, clearly written and based on sound scholarship, in a compassionate way that causes the reader to wrestle with the issues and discover the biblical truth. The book also provides practical guidelines for ministry and shows readers how they can resist the gay agenda while reaching out to their gay friends and family.

Re: Homosexuality question

Leviticus 18:22 Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination; Leviticus 20:13 If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them;

Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.

18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;

19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.

20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:

21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.

22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,

23 And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.

24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:

25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.

26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:

27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.

28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;

29 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,

30 Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,

31 Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:

32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

Anyway, I'm not going to pressure him. He's at a crossroads. He'll get saved if and when it is appointed unto him.

Thanks to some of you die replying. I appreciate it. It gives me something to process. I'll continue to speak with him if he so desires.
