TV Advertising proposal

If there must be any rules concerning TV ministry, I would be in favor of forbidding any reference to funding, or to collect money whatsoever, until the very end of the program.

Would you be in favor of a limit of a 60 second screen flash at the end of each airing. No voice, no telethons no crying for funding.

I think this would go a long way in establishing credebility and setting us apart from the showboaters.

Bingo!

Here's the dirty little secret. The powers that be want advertising for this very purpose. Its not about evangelism. It's about a revenue source.

Promise.

I doubt most of the ads would have anything about offerings or other donations. Why would they? Most of the churches advertised around here simply show the service schedule, directions and maybe a short synopsis of their various ministries. Nothing about money . . . so forbidding or making a rule against it isn't needed IMO.

I disagree. Mostly on the points listed above. I know many churches and ministers that either would or already are using ads and do so for evangelism.

Friend, there is a reason the name of Harvestime was changed to Media Missions. I have heard many discussions from high-ranking execs about the financial boon tv ads will bring.

And remember, I'm for the resolution. I just think they see dollar signs

My concerns are simply about nipping any new Hinn style ministries in the bud.

I could see what both of y'alls concern is . . . were we to have full-blown television coverage of services and ministries.

I just don't see why a church would put financial requests on an ad. My church wouldn't. Denominal church ads that I've seen here don't.

Now you could be talking about what the result of the ads would be . . . more visitors = potential members = mo money. Then you may be right. There may well be people looking at the dollar signs.

But that's not what was first posted.

CR, The point is it is not about a small TV ad inviting people to church.

Those who are against the measure are right in this - This is about TV in it's entirety and whether Pentecostals should broadcast on TV.

Regardless of current wording, people like Baxter and Mangun want to have a "program" on TV.

I am not saying that's bad, but my initial post assumed all other AOF reference be removed first, and TV treated like other forms of media.

Right. My point is, that's not the intent of those wanting to go on TV. Many would like to have programs.
