Re: Planned Parenthood Cleared Of Wrong Doing
In April of 2009 there were 57 Dems, 2 Ind's (who caucused with Dem's) and 40 Rep Senators.
There were 256 Dems and 178 Rep Representatives.
So, even all of the pro-life rep's could not have made this pass.
Additionally, the DEMOCRATS did not even put it up for a vote. And they controlled that process.
You are wrong. Reboot and start over.

Re: Planned Parenthood Cleared Of Wrong Doing
Aquila - I have worked on Congressional legislation before. I know how the system works. This bill died in committee. No one but the committee members can advance it out.

Re: Planned Parenthood Cleared Of Wrong Doing
Now you are reduced to asking why all Republicans didn't sponsor it!
Severely disappointed in this "conversation"
Seriously.
I have respected you and your viewpoints, but you are out of control on this one.
And I do not understand why.
Now, I have to get to work.

I misunderstood what I read. However, it does go to show... many Democrats would like to see the abortion rate reduced.

Re: Planned Parenthood Cleared Of Wrong Doing
Socialists run amok. The abortion biz is NOT about "ensuring mothers don't die on the operating table." Anyone who thinks that probably shouldn't be allowed to operate a motor vehicle on the public roads.
Oh, what's the use. All of us who haven't had at least 4 kids will be out bred into extinction in a couple generations anyway.
America, the roadkill of civilization. Come and dine!

Re: Planned Parenthood Cleared Of Wrong Doing
The overall point is that Pro-Choice doesn't mean Pro-Abortion. There are many Pro-Choice people who believe that abortion is a tragedy. They just don't believe that the government should be empowered to force a woman to give birth against her will.

Our (meaning Conservatives) issue is not with those people need and getting assistance. Our issue is with the government providing it. That is not part of their Constitutionally granted powers. The Church used to provide these things, it should be that way again.

Re: Planned Parenthood Cleared Of Wrong Doing
Minority women constitute only about 13% of the female population (age 15-44) in the United States, but they underwent approximately 36% of the abortions.
According to the Alan Guttmacher Institute, black women are more than 5 times as likely as white women to have an abortion
On average, 1,876 black babies are aborted every day in the United States.
Since 1973 16 million black babies have been aborted. Since the number of current living Blacks (in the U.S.) is 36 million, the missing 16 million represents an enormous loss, for without abortion, America's Black community would now number 52 million persons. It would be 36 percent larger than it is. Abortion has swept through the Black community like a scythe, cutting down every fourth member."

Re: Planned Parenthood Cleared Of Wrong Doing
Why do African Americans vote and support the Democrat party year after year? Why do they embrace liberalism year after year? What has the Democrat party done for the AA community? What have liberal policies done for AAs? It's baffling. You would think someone would see the pattern and decide to switch loyalties and parties.
