I thought our corporate taxes were to high? I thought lowering them would trickle down to us middle class peasants?

Quote:
Share repurchases have helped the stock market climb to records from the depths of the financial crisis. As a result, shareholders and corporate executives whose pay is linked to share prices are feeling a lot wealthier.
That wealth, some economists argue, has come at the expense of workers by cutting into the capital spending that supports long-term growth – and jobs. Further, because most most U.S. stock is held by the wealthiest Americans, workers haven’t benefited equally from rising share prices.

Does anyone remember the history of why workers laws were passed?

Yes. I also recall why labor unions were formed. Under these laws from the government, though, there's literally no reason for labor unions to exist. The government has forced and co-opted us into one that they negotiated, and we have no say in the matter.
I'd be fine with it, if the law allowed individuals and employers to form their own agreement (outside of those laws), I'm not fine with it dictating what my employer and I can negotiate, in terms of wage, hours and OT compensation.
Freedom is all about personal responsibility. Unfortunately, too many in the country do not want personal responsibility, they want the Goobermint to hold their hands, powder their backsides and put their diaper on them.

Re: Wage dropping in the USA
not to be overbearing here, but if the same conditions, essentially, now obtain for us with those laws as we had without, then you might be having the wrong argument? Laws are always made for ostensibly good reasons, huh.
