Luke 14:26-27
25And there went great multitudes with him: and he turned, and said unto them, 26If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple. 27And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple.
My point is this is required if one wants to be a Christian. This is real repentance. If one starts the walk HERE he wont have a problem with holiness and perfection later.

Yes, and how many professing Christians obey the scriptures you quoted?
And how many are taught those scriptures before they call themselves a Christian?
Millions have only said a sinners prayer or repeated after Joel Osteen, after watching one of his T.V. sermons and now claim to be a Christian.
Do you know that as of 2015 there were 2.3 billion people who professed to be Christians? It's likely around the same, more or a little less in 2019.
Now if all 2.3 billion were true disciples of Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom of God then the whole world would know it because God's power and Shekinah Glory would be sweeping the world and all Hell would be rising up to stop it!
It's easy to say I'm a Christian when asked, but It's extremely hard to say I'm a disciple of Jesus too, and I deny myself daily, taking up my cross and following Jesus in the face of persecution and an angry devil who knows his time is short.
I know Disciple and Christian are one and the same, but the disciples in the scriptures were true disciples, they were made disciples by the apostles and they understood what was required of them, the scriptures tell us the world was not worthy of them! I wonder if those 2.3 billion people in the world today who say I'm a Christian, can also say I'm a disciple of Jesus.
