Speaking in Tongues through the Microphone

I am curious what you think about this.

There are preachers who have their little canned sayings in so called tongues such as, Heee Looo Mo Hyaaaahaaa!! to add emphasis to their sermons. They might as well be saying Supercalifragilisticexpeliadoshis!

I can't stand it when preachers do this. If they want to speak in tongues, they should pull the mike back or they, in my opinion are in direct violation of scripture.

I know of one young man who pulled the mike away, and even covered his mouth and my respect for him skyrocketed (trust me, he is from CA and an ultra, ultra conservative of the V.M stripe). Another who thinks he needs to toss out a few unintelligible words when people aren't responding to his sermon like he thinks they should is not worth sitting in front of.

Ya know, I WONDER if this is close to the exact same thing that Bro Strange was talking about in his initial post about going to the camp meeting and things being "different".
That (and the above) are certainly my take on it.

Wow, good point! I am concerned when preaching tactics and skill are replaced by theatrics.

I was taught not to speak in tongues in the mic. My late pastor told me that it can lead to confusion and such.

I do sometimes... not very often speak in tongues in the microphone. I usually pull the microphone down.

This is not to say that stiffling the moving of the Spirit is a good thing.

Paul set forth the rules for tongues in the local assembly: if there is going to be tongues spoken out loud for all to hear then there MUST be an interpreter!

Preachers who speak in tongues in the manner you described are in sin!

Paul never said such were in sin.

He did say that such is unedifying to the whole Body, and that he who speaks in an unknown tongue and there is no one there with the gift of interpretation of tongues, then he should speak silently to himself and to God. Now, KNOWING the apostolic instruction, and choosing wilfully to just ignore it, may indeed be sin.

Personally, I don't see what the big deal is. I have never known anyone who said 'Well, my Christian friends invited me to their church, and everything was great, I was falling in love Jesus, and gettin' the Spirit and all... and then It happened. The preacher said something like "A hole in ma Honda" or something and that did it for me. Nope, don't want no part of this Jesus thing.'

I didn't say that he said it and I expect you to apologize for making such a false accusation!

No, it IS sin because it's disobedience to God's word.

It doesn't matter whether you have known anyone who turned away from Christ because of it, what matters is that Paul commanded against speaking in tongues for all to hear unless there's an interpreter.

Get yer panties out of a knot, Chan. You can 'expect' all you want. Don't mean you'll get it.

Feeling a little 'retentive' today, Chan?

I think the issue here, to me and most others, is that there isn't an anointing in it. I have heard true tongues and interpretations in the past and rarely do anymore.
I have on more than one occasion felt like piping up and shouting "Oh gimme a break!" loudly over some that have been "given" but did not for fear that I was missinterpretating what the Lord was telling me or I was sensing.
