THE BLOOD is a reference to the entire scope of the death, burial and resurrection process and work of salvation. It is the encapsulation or microcosm of all that the work of God through the cross accomplished. Blood is life of the flesh, so blood out of the body means death. This is why BLOOD was presented on the mercyseat. Death had occurred, and that was proof. So the references to salvation by the blood are speaking primarily about the entire work of Christ's death followed by the resurrection.
