With even U.S. preachers saying internet is okay, but TV is not, no wonder the stats exist as they do for the USA. lol
You will not find those stats associated with TV!! Something is upsidedown!

The stats don't lie....but can they be admitted to?
I'll say it again...if I took a no TV stand...I could not justify allowing the Internet...but that's just me!

I have seen so many lies posted. The best one is the one Triumphant 1 did his best to combat. You know, the hair cutting party thing?
Prominent members of this board chose to believe the lie and even continue to spread it, even though T1 had totally proved it was false.

Same with me. I always believed we should be Christians and avoid what is wrong, just as we do in everyday life.

To tell you the truth, both have failings to them. I have time to be on the internet because I am recovering from surgery on my foot & the doc says
1 more week off.
I am bored!
However, people are missing the point with TV-at the very least it is a time waster!
Do you really want all those ads to come into your home?
Ad agencies have execs regularly make 6 figure salary's or more because they
know that ADVERTISING WORKS!
Now, we haven't even touched on the programs yet, but with two strikes against it---why do you still defend it??
It seems as if it is a "Godly Right" we need to justify?

BINGO!!!!! If it works, then why shouldn't we use it?
Allowing advertising DOES NOT equate to the full uninhibited acceptance of TV.... if internet can be embraced with controlls and discression, why not TV? If internet can be allowed with filters, then why not TV? Or rather, why not just allow TV advertising, and then teach about the wisdom of not having one in the home? I don't see this as a double standard at all!!! If advertising works, let's use it!

I agree with you it works-but only it certain mediums.
An idiot box is great for getting things of the world pushed onto people.
This salvation message was meant for a "one on one" or "personal touch"
not a "reach out and touch your wide screen TV'S and yea let the Lord heal
thee of that sickness!"

I don't have to defend TV....that's not what this is about.
I was raised UPC...with a TV...so I never lived the no tv life.
Does advertising work...it does..on the tv, radio, billboards, convenience stores, magazines, internet, and all the other places ads are placed...
The bottom line is this...we choose what influences us...and we don't just sit there and have our noses 1 inch away from the TV ads and go...I gotta go get that beer or whatever....but there are plenty of people with their nose 1 inch away from the computer screen....

I keep hearing about internet.
Can't someone stay on the subject of TV.
Can't anyone defend TV on it's own merits?

Another "mantra" repeated but never proven. A Time Waster....How many of you have wasted time on AFF? How many kids waste time on the net chatting or playing games? How many men waste time looking at porn? There are valuable things to watch ON TV just as there are on the Net.
First of all if people don't want to look at ads, don't look at them. When you flip a magazine do you read the ads? Radio do you turn it off? Bill boards? Internet websites are full of ads..

Apostolic is defined on AFF as:
- There is One God. This one God reveals Himself distinctly as Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
- The Son is God himself in a human form or "God manifested in the flesh" (1Tim 3:16)
- Every sinner must repent of their sins.
- That Jesus name baptism is the only biblical mode of water baptism.
- That the Holy Ghost is for today and is received by faith with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.
- The saint will go on to strive to live a holy life, pleasing to God.

Yes, it is a time waster. Why is it that my cousin who prayed for me to come into the church and was PAOC but left that organization to go independent told me about ten years after I was saved that she turned off the TV?
And no she isn't UPCI and would probably be considered a liberal here.
Why is it national organizations tell people to turn off the TV?
And not in the name of religion either?

I'm actually kind of surprised at how low those numbers are...
