This is for Bro Blume:
Elders are bishops.
Acts 20:17
And from Miletus he sent to Ephesus, and called the elders of the church.
Again, it mentions elderS of the church, not elder.
Acts 20:28-29
Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood. [29] For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock.
Look at what Paul tells these elderS:
1) Take heed therefore unto yoursleves and to the FLOCK.
It wasn't just ONE elder that was suppose to take heed to the flock, but all the elderS
2) The Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church.
Not just one overseer, but multiple. Not just one mans responsibility to feed the the church, but all of the elderS
Overseers means:
episkopos, Greek 1985, Strong’s
episkopos, ep-is'-kop-os; from Greek 1909 (epi) and Greek 4649 (skopos) (in the sense of Greek 1983 (episkopeo)); a superintendent, i.e. Christian officer in general charge of a (or the) church (literal or figurative) :- bishop, overseer.
1 Peter 5:1-3
The elders which are among you I exhort, who am also an elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed: [2] Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind; [3] Neither as being lords over God's heritage, but being ensamples to the flock.
ElderS are told by Peter theye are to:
1) Feed the flock which is among you. ElderS not elder were charged to feed the flock.
2) Taking the oversight. They, not the elder is to take the oversight. What does a bishop do? Takes oversight.
Oversight:episkopeo, Greek 1983, Strong’s
episkopeo, ep-ee-skop-eh'-o; from Greek 1909 (epi) and Greek 4648 (skopeo); to oversee; by implication to beware :- look diligently, take the oversight.
The elder are overseers/Bishops, taking the oversight is what they do.
It is quite clear that the early church had multiple elders for each local chruch. These elders were the bishops of the church charged to take the oversight and feed the flock.

Truthseeker, you are contradicting yourself. You are broadly and freely applying the label of "bishop" to pastor, since a pastor is an overseer. If that is the case, then ANY person overseeing or helping to oversee the church is technically a bishop, regardless of their title.

I won't join in immature antics, but Sunday school teach is someone that teaches school on sunday. Weak arguement.

right, a bishop not cobishop or co pastor.
A bishop/elder is the office while the ministry may vary. Such as teacher, pastor, prophet and so on....

I once studied the greek and the contexts and noted that elders were synonymous with deacons. What is the difference between a deacon and an elder?

What were the functions of the elders the apostles ordained in every church?
What about calling the elders of the church? Why oesn't it say pastor and copastors of the church?

I understand the term co-pastor ,but in the Bible we find a presbytery or a plurality of Elders in an assembly.
