How can a parent justify sending their child to the [B]public school system where they will be indoctrinated to embrace homosexuality and socialism? is that so? as a teacher in the "evil" public school system i just had to respond. i have known so many private christian school kids that have told me all about their safe, "wholesome" schools. same number of teenage pregnancies, spoiled 16 year olds driving brand new, loaded out tahoe's that are doing just as many drugs...sometimes selling them at school. i've heard about it from the largest private assembly of God, baptist, and catholic schools in my area. fact-rebellious teens will be rebellious teens no matter where they are.To save money? I'd think a parent would do without internet access, cable television, that new car, and that expensive house in the suburbs so they could send their child to a Christian school.
some could do all of this and more and still not be able to afford the tuition. gimme a break!
I've been in a discussion with some rather conservative brethren about welfare and social services that help single mothers. Most claim that such programs are socialistic and should be cut. They also argue that we shouldn't support candidates that would offer more robust funding for these programs.
However, the Bible would allow the poor, fatherless (single parent house holds), widows, and strangers to glean the fields of farmers for their support while struggling. Do any of you see a parallel with social welfare and Old Testament laws regarding gleaning and the poor tithe?

Can you imagine the howling shrieks that would arise if the poor among us WERE actually required to "pick their own food" (even though it was free) and not have it handed to them?
Imagine.... Just imagine, if people on ANY government assistance were simply required to sign a THANK YOU card, which would then be delivered to a random person who actually paid more taxes then benefits received.
We went via evil public schools teaching homosexuality and poor welfare single parents compromising and sending their kids to public school so they can eat out and buy new cars.
Did I miss anything in there?

God did it for us. Out of sheer generosity he put us in right standing with himself. A pure gift. He got us out of the mess we're in and restored us to where he always wanted us to be. And he did it by means of Jesus Christ. ~Romans 3:24 from The Message

Hmmmm....well I haven't weighed in on any of this, so in case any of you were desperately wanting my opinions...
Lesbians at the prom? Who cares?
Homosexuality? I have bigger things to worry about then what goes on between two consenting adults in the privacy of their own homes. I say its between them and God (and that is my personal take on sex before marriage as well.)
As for the rest? It's always easy to see the right decision, when you are not the one that has to live it. It's between you and God, and it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks.
Now that I have fully alienated everyone, I will go back and hide in the corner

Don't ask me, I think it has something to do with men not being able to comprehend what it is like to be a single mother without a college education trying to support herself on what an uneducated women is able to make in the current job market. You know, us leeches on the system.
And before somebody says to get an education, explain how a woman with a child is supposed to do that without excepting some assistance.
