Re: Can We Become Too Apostolic

Shouldn't there be a question mark in the thread title?

I'm just picking on ya!

I agree with rrford that Apostolic & Christian are synonymous as the Apostles were the first Christians.

I see what you are saying though, we try to hard to the thee's & thou's of being a Christian instead of cultivating the "Fruit of the Spirit" in our lives!

Re: Can We Become Too Apostolic

This question reminds me of the story of Martha and Mary.

One can become too busy "doing" and "being" and then become bitter at another who's only conviction is to simply sit at the feet of Jesus.

Label me whatever.

At times, it even seems like we think that being thought of as Apostolic, is more important than being thought of as Christians.
Is it possible to be caught up in being more of something, that we forget our purpose?

We can be too "religious" and miss the point. When religion becomes a social circle with a governing body and multiple rules and regualtions then it does away with the Grace of God and becomes just another governing body.

And we lose the message in the process, that it is Jesus we are to follow, not men.

Re: Can We Become Too Apostolic

True story! A few years ago we were having a mens meeting to discuss a few issues, the main one being the leaking roof. As the debates became more heated I mentioned we were not acting like Christians. One of the older men stated " Well we aint Christians we are Pentecostals". I was speechless and I guess everyone else was also since noone responded to the remark.
