Bro, if I were engaging in sinful activities to advance to public office, I’d be throwing out my Christian values. I’m straight. I don’t plan on marrying another man. I don’t plan on performing a gay marriage. Nobody’s compromising any Christian principles by taking a stand for a free country wherein many will no doubted choose to live non-Christian lives. When I was in the military I had to come to grips with what I was willing to fight for. A “Christian Nation”? No. A nation that is only free for those that I agree with? No. A FREE country where there is liberty and justice for ALL? Yes. And ALL means ALL.

Remember, it is just a short distance to gays being in power & making laws & don't think they will be so kind & merciful to Christians!

Christianity flourishes under persecution. It might be the best thing for us. But frankly, that’s like arguing that since they’ll persecute us, we should persecute them first. Bro, that’s not Christian either. We should stand for FREEDOM. And if they ever do turn to persecute us we will be remembered as lovers of freedom for all men… but if society sees us as religious extremists who want to use government to control non-Christian peoples and their lifestyles…they’ll just think that we’re getting what we deserve. What goes around comes around.

I ask the question when folks (like you) seem to propose that we, the righteous-by-faith called out ones, attempt to regulate what secular governments do concerning the unbeliever's lifestyle.
Is there a bigger perspective here that might better serve how we direct our energies?

I think most have been socially conditioned by conservative “group think” to believe it’s their duty to impose their religious extremism on others. This solidifies them as the base of the conservative political movement. They loose sight of true liberty only believing that those they define as “good people” should be free.

No. It’s a “yes” for liberty and justice for ALL. You either believe in it or you don’t. I wore the uniform and am sworn to protect this concept. Sorry bro… I’m a Christian, meaning that I personally live a Christian life. I’m also an American, meaning that I believe that all men (even gays and those I disagree with) should be free.
It’s called “Freedom”. Let’s spell it F-R-E-E-D-O-M. Again, you either believe in it or you don’t.

A moral society is a free society. You see, FREEDOM is holy, even when men use that freedom to choose not to live holy. Freedom is holy even when men are not.

So should the govvernment stay out of how many wives a man can have?
|
No. That’s your business bro. If you can find the ladies who would be interested and your faith community embraces polygamy, why should the government meddle in the choices of consenting private citizens? We have Muslims and Mormons, and many others in this country who live in polygamous arrangements that lay low and are law abiding citizens. Many “Christians” who are Evangelical even have “arrangements” of this nature though not legally married, though they would be if it were legal. It’s a private matter. Society can place pressure on the private level to discourage outlandish lifestyles. We don’t need the government poking its nose into our marriages or bedrooms.

How dare them have laws against beastality.

Isn’t that PETA’s line? LOL Animals are consenting adult citizens.

Who are they to say a 16year old girl can't have sex with a 45 yeard old man.

She’s not a legal adult citizen.

Who are they to regulate these folks lives??? What nerve!

A person’s private life is just that, rather we like it or not. It’s private. You’re private life is private. The things you and your wife do, the things you buy to entertain yourselves, and the articles of clothing you buy her, that’s all private. It’s no one’s business. Not mine or the governments. There are more prevalent perversions practiced by straight couples, but no one would dare give the government the right to meddle in our private lives. Private lives are exactly that… private.

The majority of Americans are for civil unions predicated upon equal rights under the law.

Are you saying Christians should not be involved in politics, run for office or vote?? And should they lay aside morality if they do so???
|
If a Christian has the guts to stand for liberty and justice for all, I strongly support they run for office. However, if they want to legislate their religious beliefs, I think they would do better as pastors than politicians.
Remember, FREEDOM is holy and moral. Even if men choose to do evil. It’s always a powerless gospel that turns to the police power of government to force it’s beliefs on a population. That’s exactly that the Roman Catholic Church did. When the church quests for political power to enforce its beliefs, you know she’s become corrupt and powerless. Christian politicization isn’t the answer; it’s a symptom of a more serious problem in the church: Corruption and powerlessness.

BTW You didn't address this:

I gave my opinion on this in a post above.

I love ya bro. But I think my conviction can be summed up with this....
Freedom is holy even when men are not.

Re: Don't you miss the days of Pres. BC?
IMO, it is completely and totally asinine for a "Christian" to be arguing for homosexual rights.
BTW, they have the same rights I do. I can't marry another man (UUUUGGGHHHH, PUKE!) either.
They do not want the same rights, they want special rights. As of now, we share the same freedoms. First homosexuality, then polygamy, then beastiality, then NAMBLA rights.
Get a grip, people.

Amen, he spoke a great spiritual truth! Wow. But the reality is that they will fight until they win the right to "marry" if we don't afford them equal rights under the law in the form of civil unions. This is one reason why many radical homosexual groups don't want civil unions... they fear it will prevent them from making a case for full blown "marriage".
