I have a question for any of you who do business on EBay.
I need a new camera. So I found what I was looking for on EBay today. I wanted to put it on my bank's Visa card and not my PayPal card (which I save for only emergencies ever!)
When I clicked on purchase, it led me to PayPal and then made me put the payment on my PayPal card. NOT what I wanted to do. I probably shouldn't have been so stubborn and should have just let it go. But I knew what I wanted to do and this wasn't it. So I thought I could just go back to the start and begin again. I X'd out and started over. Only when we got to the purchase part, I see now that I have purchased TWO cameras. NOT what I want!!!!
Soooooooooo I emailed the seller and explained what happened. I just got a response from them. They want me to go ahead and pay for one of the cameras. I'm ok with that. AND they want me to pay a $20 restocking fee for the other one.
Does that sound legitimate to you folks??
What would you have done? How would you have handled it?
I'm not making any moves on this until tomorrow so any input you have will be appreciated. In the meantime, I have to go to bed. Good night! Love yas!

I have used eBay for hundreds of purchases. I have never had a seller try something like that. They sure do not sound like a legitimate company to me. I would contact eBay and PayPal and tell them what happened. If the company will not remove that fee, I would NOT pay for either camera and would buy from someone else.
You know, sometimes the Lord allows certain things to happen to set us on the right course….

I have used Ebay alot, buying and selling. I've been ripped off only one time, but it was a biggie. I think this seller is taking advantage of you, and should be reported. However, you might not be able to get out of paying the "fine".
One thing about payments that I did learn.....it's better to have the Paypal payment drafted immediately from your checking account, rather than put on a credit card through Paypal. When I was ripped off for several hundred dollars and contacted Paypal, they said that they could not help me because I had used a credit card. If I had done it through my bank account, they would have stepped in and tried to get the money back.
I never got any money back, and I never got the product I ordered. The guy "went out of business" and even cancelled the phone number he had given.
I wouldn't pay the $20. You didn't intentionally order the 2nd camera.
And it sounds like she didn't place the order for it (the second one) on the ebay auction page, anyway! This seller is playing dirty. Did you check their feedback? Don't feel bad about leaving a negative feedback, for this!

If you didn't actually order it, then you don't have to pay, of course. And if you emailed immediately after, they wouldn't have shipped it anyway. Avoid this seller!
Thanks, everyone, for your input and advice. I will be contacting EBay to discuss this with them. It's too bad, cuz I really do want the camera package they have to offer. But only ONE of them. Good grief!

Most of my ebay purchases have been successful but I did buy computer memory once that was defective. The seller never returned any emails or voice messages and I finally gave them a thumbs down on their ebay ratings.
They used a "dispute" service to have my negative rating removed -the only way to keep it on was to sign up for this SAME service and go through a whole long mediation process. On hindsight I should have since you know that is is nearly physically impossible to have a 98-99 percent approval rating when you have thousands of customers. If I stood on a street corner and gave away 100 bills my approval (as a 100-bill-giver-awayer) would probably only be 97%!
