Wow! Has it been a year already?!?! Amazing what can happen in a year. When I wrote this I would have never believed what it would have grown into. This "manifesto" turned out to be the undoing of a, once thought to be, great man. 72 days after I wrote this one of the men spoken of above would use it as his battle cry to divide a church that had been the UPC's greatest church in our area for over 30 years.
What started out to be my own, personal obeservations and opinions would become ammunition for those that had left church many years ago and those choosing to defend it and live in denial about it's history. There were those that said "Jason, thank you for giving my generation the voice it never was allowed to have" and then there were those that said "you broke my heart with those words, they just aren't true".
How could one little post on a forum that mentioned no location and no names end up being in the center of one of the ugliest splits in the District of Borat's history. Nobody at headquarters had a clue who I was but they knew of the writings of delta soundman. To be honest with you it was quite flattering. There were people all over the country calling the district and complaining. There were even those that threatened this very forum with legal action if I wasn't dealt with. Wow!
In one years time here's where we stand:
One church split
One church founded
One church struggling to find a pastor and a direction
One church with a pastor, a direction, and a message
One community being reached for the first time in history with the real message of truth, love, and grace.
I will never be able to thank the man that split this church for all he has done. That statement may shock you but had it not been for the man that split church over "standards" I would have never found the joy that resides in my heart and soul. Thank you _ _ _ _ _! Every time I pass my old church I feel the need to
