Repentance

After responding on another thread this thought came to me. We know that II Chronicales 7:14 says that IF we would REPENT and turn from our wicked way then He would heal our lands.

Do you believe you can repent for your nation? I know the nation would still need to turn from their wicked ways, but to you believe you can repent for your nation?

Also, another thought came to me when the pastor was preaching this past week.

We know that the angels rejoice when a sinner repents. Knowing this and I believe this shows the importance of repentance, why doesn't it say the angels rejoice when one receives the Holy Ghost?

Is repentance more important?

What are your thoughts?

Re: Repentance

Look at it like this after you are baptised and filled with the holyspirit..if you sin again whats the only thing you have to do to be forgiven just repent..you don't see people every week getting baptised over and over and over again ...if you needed the three steps the first time don't you think you would need them everytime you sinned...

I understand where you are coming from, however, I still believe it is essential that we do all threee. Where the salvation comes in, I now believe could be at repentance based on the scripture about the angels rejoicing. But I still believe all are necessary, as I still believe it is necessary to obey the commandments.

Re: Repentance

So after you go through all 3 steps and lets say you sin and ask god for forgivness you are back clean again..If this is the only thing you have to do is repent after going through the 3 steps would that not qualifiy as (OSAS)all you have to do is repent....

I do not believe in OSAS, wish it were true, but it isn't. I do agree all you have to do is repent, but IF you don't then...
