Saved as creating something generic and user friendly? Kind of like Eastern Philosophy? Something like Olsteen, who teaches the Hindu Vedas disguised as Christianity?
Isn't it all about no one getting convicted, no one having to change their lives in any drastic way? Hey, you can't tell the sinner from the saint. People look like they were shot out of a canon or dumpster diving for their laundry; All this is done in the name of saving souls?
Yet, the reality is the jack leg preachers who advocate all this, are having visions of dollar signs dance in their heads. They cater to women and effeminate men, who are motivated to empty their bank accounts into the coffers of the royalty (the Charismatic Dalai Lamas) who are untouchable, unapproachable and unquestionable.
The new Charismatic movement is the brainchild of the post modern world around us. It has impregnated American Churchism and filled the preachers and performers of the movement with starry eyes and yearning to party like a rock star.
Save the United Pentecostal? Charisma Magazine fired the first shot over the bow when they reported there were individuals working from the inside to bring reform. Bring reform? Reform to what? To make the One God Pentecostal movement just another apple in the bunch? To make the One God movement blend into the weirdness of the Charismatic movement? A movement which is the laughingstock of the rest of the free thinking world?
Save the UPCI to follow in the foot steps of Benny Sinner, Paula and Randy White, Thomas Weeks, Juanita Bynum, Ted Haggard, the two fornicating Jimmies, Todd Bentley, Peter Popoff, and Robert Tilton?
Reform from the inside? What's that I hear? Ka-ching! Ka-ching!, More money. . . . more money. . . more money. . . Keep those cards and letters coming!
Baseball players, motocross racers, basket ball players, movie actors, rock singers, and Trinitarian Charismatics are all getting fat wallets, Malibu, Denver, and a penthouse in Manhattan overlooking central park west.
However, the very talented One God Pentecostals who yearn to have the rock star life and still be labeled as Christian, looked at the Charismatic Televangelist, and allowed their mouths to salivate to party like a rock star.
Meanwhile as they run to fellowship with Robin Leech, and Benny Sin, they lead many astray. They promise them liberty and lead them to spiritual destruction.
Save the UPCI? It won't be done by any opportunists.

Re: The UPC is a dying movement!
Should we start naming UPCI names?
Starting @ headquarters? The previous four pastors at my church, including the founding pastor left under a cloud. One left because because of an affair, another left leaving a paper trail of e-mails to a married woman.
Another left because he decided he loved men more than women. Just my church in 50 years. District, not much better. Names?
Thank God for my pastor who had the patience of Job to straighten out this mess.

All those individuals that I named had problems, but also had the money and media to sell their wares. Benny Sinner, hasn't ever been nailed for anything near to perversion, or drugs. Peter Popoff and Robert Tilton were con artists. My point in using those criminals is mainly because they eat the sheep. In other words, it's because they run their ministries like a rock star's concert tour. Read my post, a comment was made to save the UPCI, by making it liberal, (like no standards makes everything so wonderful), I was trying to point out that money and fame and fortune is the main drive for most of these individuals. Hence my closing remark that UPCI wouldn't be saved by opportunists.

Re: The UPC is a dying movement!
Most people want the spirit of the merger to be honored by all parties. Most of the oneness preachers would have been content to stay in the Assemblies of God if they were not thrown out of the organization. The thread which held the upci together was the belief in the oneness doctrine. The organization died when a selected few decided to break the spirit of the merger.

I dunno EB. Who in the UPC is following Benny Hinn & Co? And who's Robin Leech? You must watch an awful lot of TV - I only caught a little more than half of your references.
And why is path of following BIBLE holiness wrong? Why not dump all of the extra-Biblical stuff? Let's be Bible believers!
BTW - has been hot enough for you in FL this summer? We're planning a trip down there next year - but I refuse to go in the summer.

I think it would be interesting to know how many people follow the standards because they truly believe that they are biblically required, and how many people have other reasons. Family pressure, pressure to conform, fear, or preference.

I call it Pentecostal Peer Pressure! And, yes it is often the basis for standards that are followed.
