Do we really need Israel as an ally? I think it's more likely they need us more than we need them
Aren't they a democracy? I would think that would be important to us in the Middle East. Lots of rich Jews living in this country. I'm sure we need each other.

How is Israel being an ally helpful to us?

Apostolic is defined on AFF as:
There is One God. This one God reveals Himself distinctly as Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
The Son is God himself in a human form or "God manifested in the flesh" (1Tim 3:16)
Every sinner must repent of their sins.
That Jesus name baptism is the only biblical mode of water baptism.
That the Holy Ghost is for today and is received by faith with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.
The saint will go on to strive to live a holy life, pleasing to God.
One of the main reasons, I believe, is that it strengthens our presence in the Middle East.
Really? I don't see how. In fact when the Gulf War was on we pleaded with them NOT to retaliate against Iraqi Scuds...for fear it would drag other Arab nations into the fray...clearly not something we thought we could handle

The more allies in the Middle East or anywhere else in the world, the better for us. That makes sense to me.
The "alliance" has been awefully one sided. However, the fact that they are simply there, pushy and arrogant beyond belief means they are an unscratchable itch on the back of the arab world.
As long as they sit there making noise they are a check to Syria and Jordan and even Iran to an extent. That is not a bad deal for us. And if they do something really stupid like nuke Tehran? hey, we gots deniability.
While I admit to having a soft spot for the Palestinians, they bring alot of their grief down on themselves.
