Why would the same writer use Hades in one place and Gehenna in another if he was referring to the same thing? especially considering the world they were writing to already had a very clear definition of Hades.
Hades is just the place of the dead. Revelation says the dead are thrown into the Lake O Fire

And yet Hades in various translations is rendered as hell ... and sometimes Hades/Hell scriptures used to formulate doctrine ...

Various translations are wrong.

Says you. You should do your own translation since you've made your conclusive determinative judgments!

Probably not as much as the images of hell that can be traced straight back to Dante's Inferno.

Luke 16:23-24

23 In hell, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side. 24 So he called to him, 'Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire.'

Is this the common perception of hell?

It's the hell I was always taught.

Re: Has Hell Disappeared?

Yes Hell has vanished away in the minds of those who think YHWH need not be feared. Yet his word stands strong and true as always.

Mark 9:42-48

42] And whosoever shall offend one of these little ones that believe in me, it is better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he were cast into the sea.
[43] And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched:
[44] Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.
[45] And if thy foot offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter halt into life, than having two feet to be cast into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched:
[46] Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.
[47] And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out: it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire:
[48] Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.

Yeshua was not to timid to preach about the wrath of God. No wonder Churches spend so much time playing "nice" with the world. They are immune to the preaching of eternal punishment. They are out of tune with such a message and despise hearing about it.

When the final move of God comes we will be hearing much more judgment preaching.

[6] And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people,
[7] Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.
Rev. 14:6-7

Until then the "You Cant Be Perfect" cults will continue to preach the things their members want them to.

Hell has a big place in the preaching of the true gospel. No one will be saved until they realize they are being saved from something.

Is there really going to be worms in hell? Are they fire proof worms???

Is it possible to really enter heaven with our body with a missing eye?

Some actually believe Jesus was teaching to mutilate our bodies to improve our possibly of entering heaven!!!

And also that God actually wanted Abraham to murder his son of promise. God was actually insulted that Abraham did not argue with Him, instead of heading to the mountain with his jaw set to kill his son.
