Jeffrey,
Whatever is in your heart will also be a reflection on the outside, i.e., dress and manner/behavior included. It's a no-brainer.
And if a person is having issues and decides to dress Goth, they will need to lay that clothing style aside, when and if, they decide to come clean or it will continue to keep them in that place. Same goes for a prostitute.
Outward apparel is a holiness issue that begins in the heart. Make no mistake it is part and parcel.
My only concern would be criticizing any individual choices or convictions. I don't consider it any of my business what any particular group or person decides what is best for them.

A pig in a dress is still a pig in a dress. It isn't anything if the heart isn't right before God. But it is a Christian principle to be embraced because the blood of Christ has made us holy.

I don't believe what you wear saves you. Nor do I believe what you wear makes you "holy". But modesty is a very basic Christian principle.
There is a philosophy, if you will, or a way of "Christian living" that is wise. Let's not throw the baby out with the bathwater.

Modestly, yes. But herein lies the debate of the centuries, what is "modest?" Should we insert a blanket response to that?
Otherwise, I agree with what you've said here.

I believe it is a personal and individual choice.

I dunno, Bro. I agree 100% with you're previous post and I really like the way you break down and define "holiness," "separation" and modesty. That was excellent.
But the whole "as men's styles become more provocative" thing doesn't seem to line up for me. In NT times men would exercise and even compete athletically in public completely nude. That was the norm for the apostle's world. Our society is actually much more "tame" and even more modest than the one the apostles walked in.
A quibbling point... but combating the misapplication of 2 Timothy 3:13, that I see amongst us is a hobby horse of mine. You didn't really do it, but that phrase pushed my buttons.

Very true. Some would think that wearing cardboard boxes that completely eleminate the human figure to be immodest. There will always be shape to the human body that typically identifies gender... and yes... it will be appealing to the opposite gender. That's just a fact of life. That's why I'm not at war against women's pants unless they ride WAY too low and/or fit WAY too tight. Leave something to the imagination here girls!
Having been in the military, and working with law enforcement, I think that there is something that can be said for the effect of “dress” on our attitudes and behaviors. Schools demonstrate that kids do better when required to wear a uniform. Something in us is affected by the clothes we wear. I don’t think it’s a “spirit”, but it’s a type of attitude that comes over us. Let’s be honest, when in the world did we not dress in certain ways to provoke or promote a certain mindset when “out on the town”? Doesn’t “intimate apparel” affect our “mood”? I think the way we dress is important. But I wouldn’t demand a mold out of the 1920’s, 30’s, 40’s, or 50’s.
An element of "modesty" might be in relation to what attitude it brings out in us.

I laughed out loud to "who touched my hair".
