I would not call JF a liar. He has been in years past a friend.

I suspect his reasons (and I really don’t know) is he felt restricted. However, today the things that most restricted him are no longer issues. Not TV but philosophy if you will.

He is set to become the next pastor of a very important UPCI church. I would be amazed if he didn’t come back into the UPCI at some point in the next few years.

He is a real talent. And he has a deep passion for soul winning.

This has the potential of slander. Imagine a pastor of a non-UPCI church that has never been a member and has been doing his own thing for years, and he calls a UPC preacher to preach for him and he finds out he is on some "under question" list, without being notified and given the judicial right to defend himself.
Lawsuits could be filed but as an attorney I believe they would be largely unsuccessful. UPC is a voluntary organization which would make the case pretty weak.

I agree, I wasn't trying to be ugly, I have just heard this said several times recently, and have directly heard him say it not to be true. Just wanted to go on record with my info. But yeah, I have a huge admiration for his spirit and his ministry!

Of course I guess an argument could be made that if an organization were to hold itself out to be the sole guardian of salvation and that anyone in disagreement with any of its rules is lost and that not only should such an individual need to be "disfellowshiped" but also fellowshipping with those outside said organization were grounds to be "disfellowshipped" as well, then perhaps membership in said organization is necessary for salvation, thereby making membership mandatory to escape eternal damnation.

Hmmm maybe I need to start preparing some briefs.

I think the percnetage of people who leave over philosophical differences and come back is very slim.

How many of them have a prominant UPCI father, that has blessed their ministry and has anointed the leaver as his successor in a prominant OLD UPCI church in a pretty progressive district?

mark it down, JF will be back in.
