When a dog proves to be untrainable, there is just one solution. I guess they were too soft hearted to utilize it, preferring to move on.

They did utilize the one "solution" through their local dog exterminator, the head admin. The untrainable dog was banished for good from the house. But by that time the house had many other dogs that needed training and instead of taking on the job of instruction, they abandoned the house completely.
I don't think I would call them softhearted.
