Some Carman Lyrics
Ask Of Me
I always hear My children when they bow to pray
I never fail to entertain all that they say
I mourn with every sorrow
I grieve with every pain
Yet all the while I'm strengthening and blessing them again
I want so much to be their Source from which they feed
For I and only I can give them what they need
That's why within the pages of My Written Word
Time and time again this simple line is often heard
Ask of Me, don't turn to any other
Can't you see? You'll never be a bother
Just believe that I can be your Answer, My beloved child
Ask of Me, don't search in other places
Can't you see? That I'll be your Oasis
In that dry and thirsty world you live in
I'll be your cup of water if only you give in
And ask of Me
Eyes have not seen, nor ears have heard
All of the things that I preferred
For those that love Me
But only if you ask of Me
Ask of Me, don't turn to any other
Can't you see? You'll never be a bother
Just believe that I can be your Answer, My beloved child
Ask of Me, don't search in other places
Can't you see? That I'll be your Oasis
In that dry and thirsty world you live in
I'll be your cup of water if only you give in
And ask of Me

I like His Name Is Wonderful. I think Carman sings that.

God forbid a preacher asks a saint if they liked the message and instead of saying "Well it was ok, but not my style" instead say "it was junk"?

It's still junk to me.

lol...well whatever. I think Southern Gospel is junk and the only use I can image is to either chase away teen agers from a 7-11 or to lull some old bitty to sleep

I have two teen agers and they love southern gospel. My daughter can tell you just about every group, whose in the group and what they sing.
In service this morning and tonight it will be southern and black gospel.
This morning It will be "speak the Word Lord" Hinson and tonight "Mountain Mover" Talley's and "He's an On Time God" Dottie Peoples.
Let's have church.

I don't care for much of southern gospel or even stuff like those who sing "who am i, that the lord of all the earth..." or "I can only imagine"...it is not my forte. but just because I don't like it, i'm not going to tell someone who enjoys it that it is junk....that could be taken offensively......although our own preacher once told us we listened to trash.. WE didn't get offended, we just pumped up the bass everytime we drove into the parking lot! And come to think of it, our "trashy" songs were usually what brought the house down during service!!lol ha ha ha. To each his own..

While Southern Gospel is not my favorite genre of music, I do appreciate it if it is done right. Of course some people would say that there is no such thing as good southern gospel.
Possibly the reason why this opinion is prevelant among those that have a dislike for southern gospel is because there are so many groups in the southern gospel that are really not that good.
Some of my earliest memories are those of quartet conventions that my parents used to drag me to. I do understand the genre even though there are many groups with bad vocalist and inferior musicianship.
The vocalist that have been and continue to be a part of the Gaither Vocal band has been some of the best vocalist in gospel music.
You might not like bluegrass, but if you appreciate music, there is no way you can discount Allison Krauss.
Those holds true to anytype of music.
Meanwhile I'm anticipating the new dvd concert release of Mute Math!!
