Well if the man is a pastor and a saint in the church dies, guess who will leave the camp meeting early and purchase a $700 plane ticket to go home and do the funeral? If a guy preaches out a few times a year, I don't see a problem with him preaching the camp and getting paid by the church. He will most likely be on the phone counseling saints, fielding questions from his staff, calling a sick saint, praying over the phone with a troubled individual or someone about to go into surgery. Plus he will be studying and praying for the sermons he has to preach on the Sunday he gets home. So, he's still earning his salary.

Good answer, DB.
Even though he's not physically in the area of his church, he is still carrying them in his heart.

overheard in the conference room as the church board has assembled to pray,

"Lord, keep our pastor poor and humble.
We'll keep him poor,
You keep him humble."

I heard this somewhere and don't know if it's true or not.

A man was on his way out of the church building and was complaining about the preacher and how it wasn't much of a sermon.
An usher (who had helped receive the offering) said,
"Well, what did you expect for a dollar? Billy Graham?"

speaking of Billy Graham,

does anybody know what his salary, benefits, etc. were when he was active?

How about Franklin Graham? He has taken over his father's job if I remember correctly, and he is also ceo of Samaritan's Purse.

These figures may be available to the public but I don't know what they are.

Some of you go on and on about TD Jakes, but do you realize that he charges a $30,000 fee plus offering percentage for his services out?

That's wrong!!! It's despicable in my opinion without going into the reasons here and now as to why.

I number many Apostolic preachers among my circle of friends.

Of them, I do not know a single one who demands a specific offering before they will agree to come and minister.

I have heard that there are some, but in our ranks they are very much the exception rather than the rule, thank the Lord.

Some of you have been hanging around the charismatics too much if you are running into that attitude and spirit.

We have our problems in the Apostolic movement, but by and large, this isn't one of them.

I have been put up in fine hotels some places I have preached.

I have stayed in oastor's homes and humble evangelist's quarters in some places.

I have been taken to fine restaurants in some places, and have eaten everything from cabbage soup to baloney sandwiches in others.

I have been paid very well in some places, and have preached for free in others.

And I really don't know that any of it made any difference to me. I was happy to try and be a blessing.

I am neither ashamed of being blessed, nor too high and mighty to preach in storefronts.

And I think I am just like most of my brethren.

Very Good.

My feelings also.

"Been there done that!"

And would GLADLY do it again.
