I guess you must also believe that a baptism of titles father, son, Holy Ghost is also permissable? Prax' s Jesus taught non-retaliation. We are no longer told to stone unruly sons. The judgement is the Lord's.

It's amazing when people here insist you can't use the OT for anything, yet they'd have no problem using it themselves for other reasons.

BTW your quip about baptism just doesn't make any sense. I view it as a desparate attempt on your part to just obfuscate my point and avoid responding by resorting to red herrings

Yeah, but Jesus was constantly having to get on Peter about his unbelief!

Thought experiment:

Why did Peter decide, in that most desperate of moments, to slice off somebody's ear? How was that supposed to help? Was that so the guard wouldn't hear them whispering their escape plans?

Or should we conclude that his aim was cleave the guard's head in two, and the guard partially dodged the blow?

The bible says there is a time to kill.

The bible says that killing is different from murder.

Some have perfect faith that God will protect them in the natural supernaturally. I pray for this, but my faith isn't perfect.

I once heard a preacher say "God honors your faith at your level of faith. If you have perfect faith that God will interrupt the robber or rapist, God will honor your faith. If you have imperfect faith, God will honor your aim."

Never once have I been referring to the armed Christian resistance to systematic religious persecution. Nevertheless, many of the counter-arguments to self-defense have been on that basis. I ask that logic and reason prevail upon the mind of the wandering reader who stumbles across this ridiculous thread.

Uhh, there is abundance of scripture supporting doing violence to no man. You are the one who is lacking scripture.

Now if we want to get real silly, we might even demand to see where standing in defese of your family is found in the book of JUDE! Ha! Or where is it commanded in Revelation 22 to be a pacificst? Ha! The fact of the matter is, the God of the OLD TESTAMENT is the same God of the NEW TESTAMENT. Dont' let anyone kid you. Same God! He does not change.

Peter was NOT even converted when he did that. Remember, this was pre-pentecost. Try again.
