Just in case.
Here almost everyone still can live off the land or supplement their food. I will admit though we are very isolated and if the planes or ships/ferrys stop it is a long paddle/swim to the mainland.

I know I am always teasing you folks but I am very serious. America is in big trouble. I am not a prophet of doom neither do I look out my windows for black choppers flying around...

Re: Are You Eliminating Debt/Backstocking Food?

Back with President Clinton was first elected I worked with a guy that thought the world was coming to an end. He told me he had a year's supply of food stockpiled. I asked him what he was going to do when folks started coming to take it from from him. His answer: "I have a year's supply of food and ten thousand rounds of my favorite ammuntion".

There is no reason not to store up a reserve. God had Joseph do so for the whole nation of Egypt, so that Isreal would not perish.

Maybe a person ought to set aside some food and make sure they have seeds to plant a garden with in the next growing season.

Yes God can and will supply, but we don't have to be stupid about it either.

All these predictions of economic collapse, terrorism, disaster, famine, etc all sound like a great opportunity to implement a one-world government, huh?

If I am going to accept that view of revalations, then I believe that the one world government will occur in the aftermath of another HOT world war in which somewhere between one and two billion people are killed.

I say "if" because I just dont know what i believe.

I will say that at present there are in the area of a hundred million men in China with no prospects of finding a wife.

that cannot mean good things.

Eliminating Debt? Yes
Backstocking Food? Yes

I have another question...since the US dollar has lost value and has been forecasted to plummet more, where should we invest our money? I heard that gold was a safe investment, but how does one go about purchasing gold and should it be kept in a safe in the home?

The answer today. Energy stocks, asian mutual funds, foreign currency, especially long on yen, and euro. Mid term on the yuan.

Gold is best bought with EFTs, or futures. Can only be held by private investor if in the form of currency (like the Canadian Maple Leaf or American Gold Eagle). But at today's prices ($946 oz) a bank vault would be more prudent.

How to go about purchasing?

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info. I sent you a PM to ask more details regarding gold purchasing.

As Dispensationalists we're willing to leave out the booze but we demand control over our foodstuffs and womenfolk. It's kind of like the survival plan that Doctor Strangelove found so enticing. Most of our planning has been a dream of shacking up underground eating a gourmet variety of reconstituted soup pastes and preparing to "replenish the earth;" just in case this isn't the final blow up.

A more reasoned approach would be to climb out of our bunkers and the inherent anti-social and anti-Christian mindset behind such notions. If you are truly concerned you would already have a piece of ground that has a good source of water and is suitable to raising crops for subsistence living.

Living above ground means that you will have to form alliances with your neighbors. Trading of goods and services and mutual defense will be essential. In time, these "communities" will band together with other communities and and regional and eventually national associations will be reestablished.

This is the way Eastern Europe was rebuilt after the Mongol invasions. Also, we can see the pattern repeating itself over and over again. The key to survival is cooperating with larger and larger groups of people. Cooperation and mutual defense has always won out over the hunker in your bunker mentality.

And the only way to keep a dialysis patient alive is to have enough people working together to support a local hospital. Otherwise the only good he is to us is as a sacrificial spy to see if the hostiles over the ridge have managed to keep any of their women.
Reminds me of the Terri Blackstock Last Light book series...
